This fantastic IWB resource has been designed to support the teaching of the Unit of Work "Shaping the Earth's Surface" prepared by ASTA for Science Web Australia. During this unit, students are engaged in the subject of geology by being introduced to the character Professor Ruby Stone, a geologist who shares with the students her passion for studying and collecting rocks and gemstones.Students explore and examine geological processes and phenomena and how these change the Earth's surface over time. Rock types and the rock cycle are explored in order to understand how rocks weather and erode. Students examine rocks and soil types and identify these in their local or school environment in order to assist in their understanding of how rocks change over long periods of time.
